Experience Tricia Boutté and Denmark's most funky New Orleans band - Jazz Five - the joint project, Mardi Gras Indian Party. Extra spice to this first "late night" at Fringe Jazz Fest is worldknown guitarplayer from New Orleans, Steve Masakowski + two of Denmarks best percussion players.

Mardi Gras Indian culture is among the most colorful and mythical New Orleans' cultural phenomenas. The Mardi Gras Indian tribes of "The Big Easy" show their amazing and colorful handmade costumes in the street of New Orleans at Mardi Gras and Super Sunday AND now also Fringe Jazz Fest. The music was originally "call-and-response" chants with tambourines and other percussion instruments, but was later mixed with New Orleans funk, soul and R'n'B and for instance the famous New Orleans song "Iko Iko" is rooted in Mardi Gras Indian tradition.
