Azulejos brings new life to ancient Jewish songs from medieval Andalucia, adding their own arrangements which reflect the members' backgrounds in jazz/folk. The songs are sung in the endangered Jewish language Ladino, and the music and melodies reflect the immigration of the Spanish Jews to the Balkans, Turkey, Greece and North Africa. The lyrics tell the story of life in exile, unrequited love, evil sisters and useless boyfriends and also include childrens' songs and lullabies.
