See the pictures: Gorm Valentin’s Copenhagen Jazz Festival 2019
Award-winning photographer Gorm Valentin is a living legend and an integral part of the Copenhagen jazz scene – always on the spot at the right time. As a fledgling jazz musician on a pilgrimage to New Orleans in 1969 he found his interest in photography fully aflame, leading him to buy his first camera – a state-of-the-art Nikon F. By 1976 he was finally able to make a living from photography alone; and for good reason – Miles Davis, Chet Baker, Oscar Peterson, Stan Getz, Prince, Leonard Cohen, David Bowie, AC/DC, Bob Dylan and Bob Marley are but a fraction of the many, many artists captured by Valentin’s lens throughout his illustrious career. Gorm Valentin continues to be active in the field of concert photography, focusing his efforts on jazz artists to this day.
Here’s a selection of Gorm Valentin’s finest shots from Copenhagen Jazz Festival 2019, July 5-14.
