Since 1959, Jazzhus Montmartre has been Denmark's internationally renowned stage for intimate jazz concerts at the highest level, where you can get up close to both the biggest stars and the brightest new talents.
After a detour to Nørregade in Copenhagen from 1976-95, Montmartre is back at its original address at Store Regnegade 19a, where it all began in 1959.
Since reopening in 2010, the house has been run as a not-for-profit on a tight budget with the help of 40 volunteers. Montmartre is supported by the state, the Municipality of Copenhagen and a number of foundations in recognition of the jazz house's history and role in Danish jazz.
The house is famous as the place where Ben Webster, Stan Getz and Dexter Gordon broke their fast in the 1960s and 70s and educated a whole generation of Danish jazz stars such as NHØP, Alex Riel, Bo Stief, Thomas Clausen, Palle Mikkelborg etc.
