ALICE will open Vinterjazz 2023 with a magnificent double concert. Ipek Yolu, who includes members from bands such as Hudna, Junglelyd, Sorten Muld and AddisAbabaBand, spins a magical silk road of saz, funk and surf guitar. The Danish-Gambian duo Ba Balance, consisting of guitarist Preben Carlsen and percussionist Sal Dibba, offers electric desert guitar, catchy riffs and groovy African percussion.

Ba Balance
Ba Balance's expressions range from dusty sub-Saharan moods over cinematic landscapes to dance-friendly grooves and wild soli. On their critically acclaimed debut album 'Around the Crocodile Pond' (One World Records, 2020), the two old friends interpret ten instrumental tracks by Preben Carlsen. The repertoire reflects Carlsen's curiosity and many musical journeys to the African continent and at the same time experiments with elements of acid rock, jazz and blues. All the glory is served in a challenging interplay with co-conspirator, longtime colleague and percussion virtuoso Sal Dibba. Carlsen & Dibba have each played with a multitude of world stars. In Denmark, they are probably best known for their long-standing collaboration with Dawda Jobarteh and Moussa Diallo....
