CATHRINE LEGARDH (b. 1973)
Danish jazz vocalist and composer with Swedish/Norwegian family roots. Trained as a music teacher but left the profession in 2006. She has released seven albums on the renowned jazz label Storyville Records and has toured extensively in Denmark and abroad. Legardh cultivates the Nordic tone, whether paying tribute to the Swedish jazz icon Monica Zetterlund or the Danish poet Tove Ditlevsen. She also performs with the children’s jazz ensemble NullerNix, with which she has released two albums and a book, as well as developed teaching materials for the music publisher Wilhelm Hansen. Legardh has been nominated for Music Awards three times – both in Denmark and Iceland – in connection with her collaboration with composer/saxophonist Sigurður Flosason. Most recently, her Danish-language album Stilhed & Storm (Storyville, June 2023) was nominated for Jazz Album of the Year at the Icelandic Music Awards in March 2024. www.legardh.dk
JACOB CHRISTOFFERSEN (b. 1967)
Danish jazz musician; pianist and composer. He performs as a soloist with his own band, JC Trio, as well as a sideman in countless ensembles and on more than 100 recordings. In 2013, he was awarded the Ben Webster Prize. Over the years, he has performed with Majbritte Ulrikkenholm, Hanne Boel, Søs Fenger, Sanne Salomonsen, Anne Dorte Michelsen, and most notably Shu-bi-dua, for whom he played keyboards from 2001–2011. In the jazz world, he has played with Curtis Stigers, James Moody, Kenny Washington, Gregory Hutchinson, Jeff “Tain” Watts, Joey Baron, Billy Hart, Jimmy Cobb, John Abercrombie, Scott Colley, Till Brönner, DR Big Band, Alex Riel, Chris Minh Doky, Lars Møller, Kristian Jørgensen, Lennart Ginman, Cathrine Legardh, Hans Ulrik, Tomas Franck, Jesper Thilo, Bo Stief, Jesper Lundgaard, Jens Winther, Anders Bergcrantz, Peter Asplund – and has been the loyal pianist for jazz singer Sinne Eeg for many years. www.jacobchristoffersen.com
JESPER THORN (b. 1979)
Danish double bassist and composer. He graduated from the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen in 2011 and has also studied in New York with Ralph Alessi, Marc Helias, John Hébert, and Eric McPherson. He has worked as a sideman for Palle Mikkelborg, Lars Jansson, Alex Riel, Jørgen Leth, and poet Søren Ulrik Thomsen. Thorn has received several grants and awards – winning a Danish Music Award (DMA) in the category Jazz Composer of the Year in 2022, and was also nominated at the DMA for Jazz Release of the Year in 2024. www.jesperthorn.com
ALEXANDER KRAGLUND (b. 1985)
Graduated from the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in 2011 with violin as his main instrument. With rare musicality and captivating playing, he has delighted audiences both in Denmark and abroad. His deep knowledge of Brazilian music has become a cornerstone of his artistry, which embraces a wide range. He has performed with many of Brazil’s finest instrumentalists, including Rogerio Souza, Celso de Almeida, and Mauricio Carrilho, and has contributed to over 50 releases with names such as Lee Ritenour, Christian McBride, and Jonas Johansen. He has also collaborated with Jakob Venndt, Jeppe Holst, and Brazilian bassist Romulo Duarte, as well as guitarist Jacob Fischer, with whom he in 2023 paid tribute to the masters Svend Asmussen and Toots Thielemans.
