IMPROVISATION AND SUBLIME INTERPLAY – FROM TWO OF JAZZ’S HEAVYWEIGHTS
This afternoon offers a unique collaboration between two of Danish jazz’s true heavy hitters: Jacob Christoffersen (piano) and Thomas Fonnesbæk (bass). Both are established names on the national as well as international jazz scene, and each has been awarded the prestigious Ben Webster Prize. Their music spans a wide rhythmic and melodic universe, pulsating with improvisation and sublime interplay that can be experienced up close. The program features original compositions alongside American standards – within the genres of modern jazz, Nordic moods, ballads, swing, and bebop.
“... here we get everything from the most beautiful ballads to the most intense tempo excursions, with Brazilian excesses too. Christoffersen and Fonnesbæk fit together perfectly and sound like they have been playing together for an eternity or two.”
