The Danish composers and improvisers Randi Pontoppidan and Christian Rønn are releasing their second joint album, Shadow Moves. The album builds on their critically acclaimed debut HeadSpace (Chant Records, 2020) and explores new musical landscapes, where prepared piano, extended vocal techniques, and live electronics merge into an organic expression.
Shadow Moves moves between lush acoustic textures and raw, abstract soundscapes, inviting the listener on intergalactic journeys where time and gravity dissolve. A genre-free work that challenges the boundaries of musical communication and invites deeper engagement and repeated listening.
Blue Lake is led by Jason Dungan, exploring connections between American folk and jazz, and Nordic experimental music. Since 2022, Dungan has been performing with a band drawn from musicians in Copenhagen: Carolyn Goodwin (clarinets), Pauline Hogstrand (viola), Oliver Laumann (drums), and Tomo Jacobson (double bass).
In 2023, Blue Lake released the album Sun Arcs, and toured internationally, including Cafe Oto (London), Roskilde Festival, and Public Records (NYC).
In October, Blue Lake released its 6th album on Tonal Union Records, called The Animal. The album was recorded in Copenhagen, and was the first Blue Lake album recorded in collaboration between Dungan the members of the band. For the concert at Koncertkirken, Blue Lake will be playing music from the new album, as well as tracks from recent albums Sun Arcs and Weft....
