As tradition dictates, we celebrate Shrovetide with a fantastic family concert, and this year we have the pleasure of doing so with Tubalupa Band. ❤️ After the concert, we’ll “beat the cat out of the barrel.” ❤️

Fun in the streets, jokes and mischief, lively music by the bucketful, and imaginative stories like pearls on a string. With infectious enthusiasm, the four spirited Tubalupa musicians turn back time to when mum was a boy, and play and creativity went hand in hand: Children threw mackerel sandwiches, cycled around with their legs on the handlebars, cleaned up smashed eggs with the neighbour’s dog, or stuck their whole hand in their mouth so it got stuck and the school janitor had to pull it out along with a couple of milk teeth. Tubalupa’s catchy world and folk music meets children and adults at eye level in a cheerful mix of music and storytelling.

The musicians in Tubalupa Band have played together and individually in various Danish folk bands: Basco, Fromseier*Hockings, Calibut Band, etc. Songwriter Anders Ringgaard was nominated for the Carl Nielsen Award as Children’s Music Composer of the Year 2017 for the music for the dance performance Knud Romer’s ABC. Some will also know Anders & Christina from the captivating musical storytelling performance The Gallimaufry Mosquito’s Odyssey, which they have performed at nearly 200 schools.
