This evening, we pay tribute to two of jazz’s greatest legends: Denmark’s own bass virtuoso Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen (NHØP) and American tenor saxophone giant Sonny Rollins.
NHØP left an extraordinary mark on the international jazz scene, inspiring generations of Danish bassists to follow in his footsteps. Among them is Ben Webster Prize recipient Thomas Fonnesbæk, whose remarkable virtuosity and musical expression echo the legacy of NHØP.
Sonny Rollins was a frequent visitor to Copenhagen throughout the 1960s, often performing in a trio alongside NHØP and various drummers. His influence on generations of tenor saxophonists is undeniable, including Waidtløw, who will bring a selection of Rollins’ iconic compositions and timeless jazz standards to life.
Look forward to an evening of exceptional musicianship, dazzling improvisation, and world-class interplay as three outstanding musicians celebrate the legacy of two jazz legends.
