SuperJazzDay No.2 under the CPH Jazz Festival. After our first edition of the SuperJazzDay under the VinterJazz Festival 2023 we will continue our musical journey with a firework of musical forms and colours. Three bands from the Copenhagen Jazz-scene with a very international character have united their energies to celebrate this unique day. Come by and experience Jazz from several cultures with influences from many other musical genres. Not only for Jazz-nerds, also well suited for all kind of music-lovers - we promise!

Klanglys
All members of Klanglys make use of their love for jazz harmonies, rhythmic ostinato figures and natural soundscapes to create pleasant and light projecting melodies. The band utilizes a wide array of musical colors with references to a vast span of cultural backgrounds - namely those of the individual members of the group, which is mostly Western European, but with clear trails over the entire continent. The lyrically based tunes create a counterpoint to the abundant arrangements with stylistic plurality. The instrumental competence of the players creates a feeling for the listener of being drawn towards the intersections between timbre and light in the musical space. Klanglys will take you on a cinematic journey and guides you through festive and lively and also dreamful scenes.

Raphael Gimenes
In the music of the Brazilian singer-songwriter Raphael Gimenes, poetic introspection meets a profound love for the outdoors. The Copenhagen-based artist writes atmospheric, cinematic songs, in which he is hunted by sun-kissing jaguars, chased by thirsty horizons, and dreamed by birds. In 2016, his debut album, “Raphael Gimenes & As Montanhas de Som”, was elected the best Brazilian album of 2016 by the Dutch website Written in Music, hailed as a “conceptual masterpiece” by the Japanese magazine Latina, and praised for its “other-worldly beauty” by the Belgian website Rootstime. His sophomore album, “A Tongue Full of Suns”, was recorded on the Faroe Islands, in co-production with the Faroese singer-songwriter Teitur. It’s been praised as “hypnotic” by the Brazilian website 80minutos, and called “top-shelf neo-folk” by Danish singer-songwriter Tim Christensen. Gimenes is currently finishing up on his third release, “DINAMARCA”.
