Danish / Hungarian Kamilla Kovacs is hard not to notice on the Copenhagen jazz / folk scene. She has, among other things, established herself in projects like the Danish Grammy-winning vocal group IKI, the experimental jazz duo Kovacs & Dyberg, and the Nordic vocal ensemble Vokalselskabet glas.
As a solo artist Kovacs draws on major songwriter legends such as Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen, classical music, and on an experimental vocal tradition. This exciting meeting of inspirations are mixed with an exploration of her own Hungarian roots. Kovacs' voice is backed by piano and by double bass player Jakob Roland’s (Nikolaj Hess, John Ruocco) virtuos playing.
