Vocal World/Folk Funk/Soul The Sound of New Orleans DKK Forsalg 150 +gebyr / dør 175

Don’t miss out the final party of Fringe Jazz Fest 2019 when the three Mardi Gras Indians from “A Tribe Called Gumbolia” from New Orleans hit the stage with members of Jazz Five, Tuesday Night Brass Band, DR Big Band and Steve Masakowski and Michael Watson from New Orleans.

Mardi Gras Indian culture is among the most colorful and mythical New Orleans' cultural phenomenons. The Mardi Gras Indian tribes of "The Big Easy" show their amazing and colorful handmade costumes in the street of New Orleans at Mardi Gras and Super Sunday AND now also Fringe Jazz Fest.

The music was originally "call-and-response" chants with tambourines and other percussion instruments, but was later mixed with New Orleans funk, soul and R'n'B and for instance the famous New Orleans song "Iko Iko" is rooted in Mardi Gras Indian tradition.
