The band Api Pipo offers an uplifting mix of West African big city pop and modern jazz. In front of the nine-man orchestra, guitarist and singer Alain Apaloo comes from the West African country of Togo, but has been living in Denmark since 1999 and has had Copenhagen as the base for his career.

Alain Apaloo is in a Danish context often associated with blues music and largely the Mojo venue, but his talent goes far beyond this, which Api Pipo is a shining example of.

The band unites African grooves with sophisticated harmonies and singable melodies based on a repertoire that counts Apaloo's own compositions as well as interpretations of traditional songs from Togo. Besides being an excellent soloist and singer, the band leader also has a wonderful feeling for the collective, which makes Api Pipo an organic compelling unit, where the fun of playing is very tangible.
