Henrik Olsson and Ola Rubin are two well acknowledged Swedish improvisers active on
the experimental/improv scene in Europe. Currently with a base in Copenhagen/Malmo
where they are involved in several projects that frequently appears on the international
scene.
In this duo, they both immerse themselves in a hearty improvised musical dialogue that
is full of energy and expressivity. They work their way towards the unheard by
meticulously exploring mind-boggling sounds, rhythms and abstract sonic shapes, often
rapidly shifting between these. Curiosity are at the core of this duos identity and their
interplay is highly reactive and dynamic. They both utilizes a way of playing that takes
advantage of extended techniques which they both developed on their respective
instrument.

Henrik Olsson is a Swedish guitarist and composer based in Copenhagen. His playing has attracted attention through projects such as Hand of Benediction, EHM, Ytterlandet and various ad hoc contexts. The New York City Jazz Record included his latest album Hand of Benediction on its list of Best New Releases 2019 and gave it an “honorable mention” and Vital Weekly has called the album "a lovely madness and a very remarkable statement". He is also a member of the Danish collective and record company Barefoot Records.
Ola is a trombone player based in Malmo, Sweden. He is an innovator of the trombone and is currently active in many bands like Swedish/ American
trio 'Swedish Fix' (w. Jon Lipscomb/ Anders Uddeskog) Recent collaborations with
Leila Bordreuil, Zach Rowden and Chris Pitsiokos. A new tribute band to
Roswell Rudd and Steve Lacy 'Lazyrudemonk' (w. Martin KUchen/Dan Schyman/Uddeskog)
Barefoot Records label-fest!
Look forward to get inspired, touched, surprised and challenged, when the artist-collective Barefoot Records for the 12th year in a row invites to a small exclusive festival inside the Copenhagen Jazz Festival. The charming old courtyard of Galleri Krebsen in the very centre of Copenhagen is the perfect frame to open up your ears with a beer in your hand. The programme consists of some of the most interesting artist from the European scene for improvised music, with international guests, award-winning groups, new meetings and compositional experiments. Barefoot Records was founded in 2006 and has been called “one of the most interesting new labels in Danish jazz” by All About Jazz. The collective consists of 8 musicians from Denmark, Poland, Ireland, Noway and Sweden, which have together released 70 albums so far.
