Founded in 2020, Copenhagen Clarinet Choir challenges the traditional woodwind chamber music format - one instrument is multiplied, thus allowing a diverse group of fearless improvisers to find a united expression. Minimalism and texturalism are combined with extended techniques, and graphic and interpretative scores are realised through collective improvisation.
The resulting sound, both homogenous and idiosyncratic, is sculpted by the nuances of the clarinet.
The program will include the premiere of a newly-commissioned work entitled ‘Somehow, Sound' by award-winning Brazilian composer Marcela Lucatelli. Folding into the unruled voices and physicality of the musicians, the work is an insistent call to duty, where the audience will also have a three dimensional experience of the urban-natural acoustic of the enclosed courtyard of Galleri Krebsen.

Copenhagen Clarinet Choir are: Anders Banke (The Firebirds, New Jungle Orchestra), Francesco Bigoni (Maria Faust, Jim Black) Maria Dybbroe (Køs, Caktus) Jonas Engel (Our Hearts as Thieves, Own Your Bones) Carolyn Goodwin (Thou Sonic Friend, Bon Iver) Henriette Groth (Lotte Anker, August Engkilde).
Marcela Lucatelli can already be hailed as one of the most innovative vocalists and composers of her generation. Born in Brazil and based in Denmark, Marcela has earned international recognition for her extremely original, sensuous and politically charged performance works. The composer is known for writing ''scores for the limits of bodies and voice'' (The Wire). Her pieces are currently performed by vocal elite groups such as the Danish National Vocal Ensemble and Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart, together with some of the most edgy ensembles and music collectives in the world, such as Apartment House (UK), Bastard Assignments (UK), Pinquins (NO) and Mocrep (US). Lucatelli has been awarded the Carl Nielsen and Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen Foundation Talent Prize in Composition 2019.
