Beyond the Beats præsenterer: Morten McCoy & Josefine Opsahl - en hyldest til Emahoy

Beyond the Beats will this evening focus on the Ethiopian piano player and nun, Emahoy Tsegué-Maryam Guèbrou. The 98 year old nun creates unique compositions that unites classical, blues and jazz with scales known from her home country Ethiopia.
The compositions entails a thoughtfulness and spirituality that many listeners have felt drawn to since she got attention with the Éthiopiques compilation in 2006.

This evening Morten McCoy and Josefine Opsahl will interpret her music and play a solo set to honor her music.

Morten McCoy works as a instrumentalist, songwriter and music producer. He is known for his works in groups like Bremer/McCoy and Guiding Star Orchestra and has collaborated with Peter Sommer og Marie Key.
