Tribute to Niels Henning Ørsted Pedersen & Sonny Rollins.

At this concert, the Admiral Hotel pays tribute to two of the biggest artists, our own bass giant Niels Henning Ørsted Pedersen (NHØP) and the American tenor giant Sonny Rollins. Sonny Rollins was a frequent guest in Copenhagen up through the 60s and he often cultivated the trio format with the Dane NHØP and changing drummers. NHØP left a huge imprint on the world map of jazz and after him, many Danish bassists have popped up and have left their own mark on the international jazz scene. The latest in the series is one of this year's Ben Webster recipients, bassist Thomas Fonnensbæk, whose equilibrist playing draws clear threads to NHØP.

Rollins is a huge inspiration for many tenor saxophonists, so also for Waidtløw and this afternoon, classic Rollins numbers as well as well-known standards from Rollins repertoire will be on the program. The trio is completed by a well-swinging Janus Templeto...

The concert will take place in our new cocktail and jazz lounge "The Oven". In the old days, this was where the grain was dried, but now the thick vaults help to support the beautiful tones and we promise that it will be a unique music experience!
