You can look forward to lively dance music with roots in Eastern European folk music combined with Nordic melancholy when the orchestra Mames Babegenush takes the stage for Brønshøj Sommerjazz.

Mames Babegenush is a sextet that formed here in Copenhagen in 2004 and has ever since explored and challenged genres ranging from classical music to jazz and Nordic folk music. They are a terrific live orchestra that can entice most people to dance! For a number of years they have performed at the Copenhagen Jazz Festival and also at the Tønder Festival, just as they have played on large international stages such as Carnegie Hall in New York, Roskilde Festival and Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival.

Their name translates to 'Mother's aubergine salad', and the six-member ensemble includes the instruments bass, saxophone, accordion, trumpet, clarinet, cimbalom and drums.
