What unfolds when diverse musical cultures collide and blend? When tensions dissolve only to birth fresh dynamics? When you dismantle boundaries yet remain rooted in your own heritage? These are the realms where the Gantriis-Zimmermann Guitar Duo thrives. Their journey has taken them across borders, collaborating with composers and musicians hailing from countries as varied as South Africa, Argentina, the Faroe Islands, the USA, and Albania. The concert boasts two world premieres. One composed by Danish jazz guitarist and composer Kasper Bai. With his piece 'Chardonnay,' Bai catapults J.S. Bach into the 21st century, drawing inspiration from the master's iconic Chaconne. The second premiere is ‘Memorabilia’ composed by multi-instrumentalist Fred Frith. A founding member of the band Henry Cow, Frith has shared creative space with luminaries like Brian Eno, Mike Patton, and John Zorn.
