Luumu is led by pianist and singer Adina Friis. Her songs contain socially critical fairy tales and commentary on world events, wrapped in atmospheric sounds. Some lyrics convey personal stories - sometimes melancholic, sometimes infused with irony - about her own life or life around her. Floating, dreamy, and yet grounded, the four musicians combine lyrical jazz with folk and an archaic undertone from Scandinavia and Ireland, blending it with the music of the 60s and 70s. The band, consisting of composer, singer, and pianist Adina Friis, double bassist Simon Iten, and drummer Andy Schelker, has been active since 2012, performing well over a hundred concerts on stages both small and large across Europe.
