Katrine Schmidt is a Danish songwriter. In 2023 she received a Danish Blues Award. Even though the main musical vibe is bluesy she also takes in genres like jazz and country. With the debut EP “Taking My Time” from 2017 and her debut album “Laying My Burdens Down” from 2021 she is at this moment working on a third album which is set to be released in the fall 2024.
Katrine is brought up in rural Jutland, Denmark. In her musical upbringing, Katrine has been influenced by handmade music such as country, folk and roots music, especially male singers like Johnny Cash, Glenn Campbell, Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan.
She has been an active part of the Danish jazz and blues scene since 2012, being involved in several constellations as a singer and songwriter. In 2017, she graduated from The Royal Danish Academy of Music and started playing Danish venues and festivals, winning over audiences with her strong and warm vocal, and her charm.

Katrine’s songs are deeply honest and simple and deals with the ups and downs in life such as love, heartbreak, abuse, anxiety and remembering lost love ones. The album is produced under a DIY philosophy, by Katrine and her co-writer, co-producer and pianist Johannes Aaen Jensen.
