Sisters of Jazz
.....tribute to women in jazz ..........
In music and pictures, Sisters of Jazz tell the story of women who, throughout the history of jazz, have been overshadowed by their male colleagues due to sexism and racial discrimination. Enterprising women whose contribution to the musical heritage is significant and who have been behind some of the great (male) orchestra leaders but are often underrecognized and forgotten or have simply written under a pseudonym. Through gripping stories and catchy music, Sisters of Jazz opens up for reflection on diversity, equality, structural discrimination, etc. both then and now.
Come and get a new view on jazz history – and lots of good music.
