Conductor Nikolaj Hess has been in the Danish and international elite of composers, bandleaders and musicians for more than 30 years. He divides his time between Denmark and the United States, where he collaborates with Chris Cheek and Mark Mommaas, among others.
At this concert in Paradise Jazz, he has put together an international supergroup with Ane Trolle and Sissel Vera Pettersen in front, two well-known and outstanding vocalists in modern vocal jazz. Come and hear them improvise with tones and words – like a kind of jazz rappers. Maybe they supplement with more ordinary vocal jazz numbers – who knows. With this evening's strong band as support, they will show that vocal jazz is more than you thought.
