The band PERFECT STORM is where he mainly presents his own music, but he also works a lot with the jazz standard repertoire where he is profiled as a charming, dynamic and playful vocal-improviser within the more modern areas of this music.
But it all started somewhere else. Coming from a musical family, Alexander was at a young age fascinated with music and had his mind set on a musical career. He took to the stage at a young age with a solopart in Mozarts "The Magic Flute" at the Royal Swedish Opera House in Stockholm, and he went on studying double bass within the jazz-genre.
Later, he switched bass playing for singing, and in the year of 2006 Alexander entered the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg under professor Anders Jormin, studying to become a jazz vocalist.
After having taken part in the Scandinavian jazz-scene in a number of different constellations, Alexander decided to take a step forward as a soloist.
In July 2017, he won the Shure Montreux Jazz Festival Voice Competition, competing against jazz vocalists from all over the world. Alexanders debut full length album ”Perfect Storm” was released not long after in January 2018, produced and arranged by Vanessa Liftig. The album consists of original music by Lövmark himself, and it features rising star tenor sax player Melissa Aldana.
In the summer of 2018, Lövmark was invited back to Montreux to perform with his band in the big Montreux Jazz Club, sharing the evening with artists Robert Glasper and Alfredo Rodriguez, among others.
Alexanders influences stretch over a wide field, all the way from the Pat Metheny Group’s cinematic compositions, Kurt Ellings groundbreaking modern vocal jazz, to Michael McDonalds soulful vocals. You may also hear glimpses of E.S.T, Allan Holdsworth I.O.U and Kurt Rosenwinkel in his music. He is currently composing music to follow up his debut ”Perfect Storm”, and he can be heard in several different musical contexts, one being the jazz vocal group Stockholm Voices which released their debut album ”Come Rain Or Come Shine” (2015)....
