Gilsons (BRA)




Gilsons builds on the legacy of their father and grandfather, Gilberto Gil – a key figure in the iconic tropicália movement and one of the biggest names in Brazilian popular music (Música Popular Brasileira). The trio was formed in 2018, and represents two generations of one of Brazil’s most beloved music legends – his son José Gil and grandsons Francisco and João Gil.

With their unique and warm blend of pop rock, samba, reggae and rhythms from northeastern Brazil, Gilsons has created a sound that balances the modern and the traditional. Since their Latin Grammy-nominated debut album “Pra Gente Acordar” (2022), the trio has distinguished themselves as a distinctive new voice – both on the music scene in their homeland and among an international audience with concerts in the rest of the world.
