Martin Kirkegaard is a musician who works within instrumental, acoustic guitar music with deep roots in folk and world music. His music stems from sketches, melodies and improvisations that intertwine with each other.
Although he grew up with a background in jazz and blues, he draws on everything he hears. “The world consists of sounds that are just waiting to be interpreted,” he says. His travels to Africa and Scotland have made a special impression, where artists such as Ali Farka Touré and Bert Jansch have become entrenched under his fingertips.

But most of all, Martin is a craftsman who puts old elements together in new ways and thereby creates original stories.
In June 2020, his debut album Tar Gui – 10 Pieces for Guitar and 2 for Banjo (2 LP + digital) was released. In 2024, he released two albums together with pianist Mikkel Almholt: Molacg, Part 1 & 2 (2 LP + digital). Both releases have received great acclaim from critics.
The concert is the introduction to a triple musical evening at Metronomen. At 8:00 PM, UNDER THE MOON will take the stage and play lovely acoustic music, and at 9:00 PM, the amazing Kat Herlo and band will perform. Admission to all three concerts is free....
