"Two of the greatest jazz talents in Denmark and the Netherlands meet in this concert at Montmartre during the Copenhagen Jazz Festival 2026.
What kind of jazz do they play?
The great Danish guitar talent Jacob Artved cultivates a sound that is rooted in the golden age of jazz, but to which he also adds a modern drive full of his own compositions. His style is inspired by icons such as Charlie Parker, Wes Montgomery and Sonny Rollins. The music is unpolished and honest, and is based on the standard jazz repertoire. But Artved is fantastic at reinventing it all in the present with a strong energy that reminds the audience why jazz, with its primal power of eternal improvisation, constantly manages to renew itself.
What should I know about them?
The meeting between these two giant talents is sure to be full of surprises.

What should I know about them?
The meeting between these two giant talents is sure to be full of surprises.
Dutch saxophonist Gideon Tazelaar is considered a technical prodigy. He has toured the world with names like Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and is known for his enormous sound and historical musical insight, to which he adds strong personal colors.
Jacob Artved has long been proclaimed as the greatest Danish guitar talent in decades. He moved to New York at a very young age and quickly became part of the city's prominent jazz elite. He has released several critically acclaimed albums, and at a young age played with legends like Billy Hart, Louis Hayes, Billy Drummond and Jeb Patton.
Both musicians have had their regular run at legendary clubs like Village Vanguard and Smalls, and they bring the uncompromising ""New York attitude"" directly to the stage.
With them is David Wong from NYC on bass. He has visited Copenhagen several times with groups like Hank Jonas, Roy Haynes, Jimmy Heath to Cecile Mclorin Salvant, Benny Green. Today he plays in Bill Charlap's trio.
Also joining the band is Michael Shekwoaga on drums, who plays in Kenny Garrett's band and has toured all over the world with the likes of Joey Defrancesco and Gary Bartz. His mentor for many years is Billy Hart.
What do the reviewers say?
""Artved is the type of guitarist who only comes along once a generation. His interaction with Tazelaar is sparkling and filled with a mutual understanding that is rarely experienced.""
— Berlingske
""Tazelaar has a tone on his saxophone that can break hearts and start parties at the same time. Together with Artved's trio, he lifts jazz into a new era."" — DownBeat Magazine (US)"...
