Book Concert with Iben Hjejle, Astrid Koppel, and Benjamin Koppel
Benjamin Koppel’s debut novel Annas sang is a book filled with music, and this summer the story of Anna unfolds as an intimate book concert at Langelinieskuret. On Sunday, July 5, the audience is invited to a special performance featuring readings by Iben Hjejle and live music by singer Astrid Koppel and Benjamin Koppel.
The novel is based on the nearly 100-year life of Koppel’s great-aunt Anna. It has captivated both readers and critics alike and received numerous awards.
Langelinieskuret’s Wine Bar & Event space is a unique concert venue by the shimmering waters of Øresund. Skuret Vinbar opens one hour before the concert, offering wine, beer, soft drinks, and snacks.

About the performance:
The many conversations between Benjamin and Anna not only inspired the novel Annas sang, but also the musical work Annas Dollhouse. In this piece, Benjamin passed Anna’s stories on to singer and lyricist Cæcilie Norby, who transformed them into poetic lyrics for Benjamin’s song cycle, consisting of nine songs released alongside the book.
Anna’s story is a compelling narrative of duty, social control, loneliness, persecution, and war—but also of art, resilience, and an all-conquering love, not least for music.
On this evening, Benjamin’s daughter Astrid Koppel will guide us into Anna’s world, accompanied by Benjamin Koppel, while actress Iben Hjejle reads selected passages.
