Søhesten & Musik Syndikatet invite you to a six-hour day party at Jazz at Balders Plads, a warm, rhythmic journey through vinyl, live performances, and groove, where genres and generations melt together under the open sky.
The day opens with vinyl sets from Andrea Passenger (IT) and Andy Martin (UK), gently setting the tone with selections spanning rare groove, jazz, and soulful rhythms. From there, the afternoon unfolds into live performances from The Chosen Groove (DK) and Andreas Fryland Groove Trio (DK), carrying the energy through sunlit hours and into the early evening, building towards a shared climax where the dance floor comes alive.
Andy Martin is rooted in the alternative club culture of Brighton, shaped by the early waves of rare groove, jazzdance, and acid house. Andrea Passenger, part of the Jazz:Re:Found festival DJ collective, moves effortlessly between club and concert settings. He performs in duo with trombonist Gianluca Petrella and has shared lineups with names such as Theo Parrish, Nicky Siano, and Gilles Peterson. With appearances across Europe and Japan, and releases on labels like Light Touches Records and Right Tempo, he brings a deep and curious approach to his selections.
The Chosen Groove brings together a group of close friends, and some of Copenhagen’s grooviest jazz musicians. Drawing from both jazz traditions and the Brazilian songbook, they create a vibrant, rhythmic soundscape perfectly suited for a summer afternoon at Balders Plads.
Andreas Fryland Groove Trio builds on decades of presence within the Danish jazz scene, moving fluidly between jazz, soul, and funk. With a focus on tight interplay, heavy grooves, and expressive improvisation, the trio creates a sonic space where energy and musicality go hand in hand.
