Luca Curcio La BOMBA

La BOMBA is project led by Italian bassist Luca Curcio, he brought together a bunch of Nordic star players and tried to imagine what would have happened if Ornette Coleman’s quartet had messed with ’90s boom bap, polyrhythms, Mediterranean folk songs, club music, and they all had lived in Scandinavia for a few years.
La BOMBA is loud, unapologetic and explorative, the sound is acoustic, raw, and mixes contrapuntal melodies and hard hitting rhythms with sample-based electronics, synth bass lines and an in-your-face attitude.
Luca Curcio is a bass player, composer, producer and improviser based in Berlin and Copenhagen. Luca is an eclectic and curious musician, the list of his influences range from Mingus and Haden to Gnawa music, passing by Cachao Lopez, A Tribe Called Quest and Flying Lotus.
