Beyond being a folk musician, composer, singer, and violinist, Sara Parkman is also a pastor’s daughter. Her music draws deeply on hymn traditions, prayer, and church choirs. This was evident on the album ‘Vesper’ (meaning “evening prayer”) from 2019 written and partly recorded in a monastery in France. And again on the Swedish Grammy-winning follow-up ‘Eros Agape Philia’ from 2022, where among lofty hymns and folk songs one finds an ode to the mystics Hildegard von Bingen and Gunnel Vallquist. This is music that truly deserves a church setting! And it will get just that in January, when Sara Parkman, together with musicians Hampus Norén and Anna Möller, comes to Brorson’s Church. In the winter darkness, we will gather for an evening of care. And of music on wood, violin, and bellows.
