Christina Birksø has worked as a full-time musician in the Danish music scene for many years—primarily within the soul and pop genres—but her love for jazz has followed her ever since her days at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory. In particular, jazz’s sense of freedom, spaciousness, and room for the voice has been a major artistic inspiration for her.

Her artistic universe is inspired by powerful voices such as Monica Zetterlund, Nancy Wilson, Rickie Lee Jones, Barbra Streisand, Billie Holiday, Erykah Badu, and Lisa Nilsson—role models who have each contributed to Christina’s warm, playful, and deeply emotional expression.

For the concert at Nordhus, she is accompanied by a trio of seasoned and highly skilled musicians:

The evening’s repertoire offers both beloved jazz standards and newer, self-composed pieces. The audience can look forward to a wide range of moods—from cheerful uptempo arrangements to sensual bossas and heartfelt ballads that go straight to “the heart sphere.”

For Christina Birksø, the purpose of the music is clear:
“My most important mission as a singer has always been to move people through my voice—it’s something very close to my heart.”
