Benjamin Koppel is one of Denmark’s most distinctive saxophonists — an artist with an impressively wide-ranging career as a composer, author, cultural entrepreneur, and world-class improviser. He moves with ease between Valby and New York and has, throughout his career, collaborated with some of the biggest names in modern jazz. No matter the project, he always manages to create music filled with warmth, power, and presence.

For this year’s Winter Jazz, he has gathered a quartet of outstanding caliber:
Jacob Christoffersen, whose elegant, melodically strong piano playing is beloved for both its virtuosity and lyrical finesse, and Johnny Åman, the Swedish bassist with a rock-solid groove, great musicality, and a special ability to elevate any ensemble.
