Both artists have impressive international careers as soloists, and in this collaboration they allow their creativity and curiosity to flow freely into each other’s musical universes.
Johanna Juhola is known as a groundbreaking figure in tango and world music. Her characteristic sound and unique playing style have made her a major source of inspiration in the accordion world, and her collaborations span classical ensembles, jazz, electronic music, New Circus, and contemporary dance. She has even developed her own genre, Fantasy Tango, and in 2022 she received The Nordic Composer’s Award (the NPU Prize) for her work as a composer.
Violinist Lena Jonsson is one of the most influential figures on the contemporary Scandinavian folk music scene. With an open, curious, and genre-blending approach, she draws inspiration from traditional Swedish folk music as well as rock, pop, jazz, American old time, and bluegrass. Her award-winning album Stories from the Outside earned her both a Grammy and a Manifest Award in 2021, and in 2023 she was named Artist of the Year at the Folk & World Music Gala in Sweden. Lena has previously performed at Klaverfabrikken in several different constellations, and we look forward to experiencing her again in this powerful new partnership.
