ASTRID ENGBERG “CRACKS”
Danish singer, producer, composer and DJ Astrid Engberg is set to release her third studio album, Cracks. With this new record, Astrid continues her exploration of modern soul, R&B, nu-jazz and contemporary classical music, this time through an even more ambient, cinematic and personal expression.
Cracks revolves around the beauty and necessity of the cracks and fractures in life; the places where we break down, evolve and discover new forms of strength. The album moves seamlessly between organic arrangements, electronic textures and intimate vocals, with Astrid’s distinctive voice serving as both narrator and emotional focal point.
The album was mastered in Marseille, France, and Astrid has once again collaborated closely with her longtime musical partner Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, the Los Angeles-based multi-instrumentalist, conductor and composer known for his work with artists such as Flying Lotus, Erykah Badu...

The album was mastered in Marseille, France, and Astrid has once again collaborated closely with her longtime musical partner Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, the Los Angeles-based multi-instrumentalist, conductor and composer known for his work with artists such as Flying Lotus, Erykah Badu and Thundercat. Other contributors include British jazz saxophonist Miles Spilsbury, whose expressive playing can be heard on “Sharing a Pomegranate With You”, and Brazilian singer Nina Maia, whose collaboration on “O Céu” grew out of months of conversations between Copenhagen and São Paulo, eventually developing into a multilingual meditation on loneliness, creativity and the women who came before them.
Since her debut album Tulpa, which was highlighted by Bandcamp Daily as one of the best albums of 2020 and earned Astrid Engberg a Danish Music Award Jazz for Vocal Release of the Year as well as a Steppeulven Award for Producer of the Year, she has established herself as one of the most original voices on the Danish music scene. Her second album, Trust (2023), was praised by both audiences and critics, including Politiken, GAFFA and Information. The album led to a nationwide tour and a nomination for Jazz Composer of the Year at the Danish Music Awards Jazz 2024.
With Cracks, Astrid Engberg brings together the threads of her previous releases while simultaneously opening the door to a new artistic chapter. The result is an album that balances fragility and strength with uncompromising musicality and a deeply human emotional core.
“Cracks is about the things we try to hide, and how the light often finds its way through those very cracks,” says Astrid Engberg.
With Cracks, Astrid Engberg further cements her position as an artist creating music that transcends genre boundaries and emotional landscapes.
“This is songwriting liberated from time and space, where the possibilities seem endless.”
