Johanna Sulkunen (FI), Louise Dam Eckardt Jensen (DK), Henrik Olsson (SE), Lisa Ullén (SE) and Burkhard Beins (DE) met each other for the first time as instructors at an improvisation course in Fredericia. As part of the programme, they played a successful teacher's concert, which then became the starting point for this project. Since the musicians represent different areas within the broad field of "improvisation", such meetings rarely take place, and this has motivated them to unite in a common front for the diversity of improvisation, and thus create this constellation called "ReInstruxurrealism". The name is open to interpretation, but could allude to a process where the musicians' different musical backgrounds merge, transform into something new, which is constantly reinvented, structured, in flux, restructured, reinstructed, and so forth…

Louise Dam Eckardt Jensen is a Danish-American saxophonist, vocalist and composer whose anti-authoritarian approach has led to her to a sort of bi-coastal career where she thrives simultaneously in the dense and claustrophobic environment of New York City and the idyll of the southern Danish countryside. This duality finds its counterpart in her music: equal parts raw, unrelenting exploration of harsh noise and questing melodic forays. She recently formed a hellish saxophone quartet comprised of legendary Japanese noise saxophonist Tamio Shiraishi, tenor saxophonist Matt Nelson and young alto player Chris Pitsiokos.
Johanna Sulkunen is a Finnish experimental vocalist, composer and improviser based in Copenhagen. She has released four critically acclaimed albums and is a part of the award-winning vocal ensemble IKI. In 2018 she launched the experimental solo project Sonority, and ever since the symbiosis of vocals and electronics has been in the center of her career. She has toured extensively in Europe Asia, Japan, and Korea and played in Denmark’s major festivals, and collaborated with artists like Blixa Bargeld, Axel Dørner & Michiyo Yagi.
Lisa Ullén has devoted herself entirely to improvised music since the late 1990s, in the form of free jazz as well as avantgarde and contemporary classical and experimental music. A versatile player with a singular musical vision, Ullén has repeatedly proven her ability to imprint her absolute sense for tonal texture on whatever musical context she appears in. Internationally recognized as a distinctive and uncompromising musician and composer, Ullén over the last decade has produced more than fifteen albums.
Burkhard Beins is a German composer/performer who works with percussion, selected objects and electronics. Living in Berlin since 1995, Beins is active in experimental music and electroacoustic improvisation. Since the late 1980s he has appeared on international festivals, concerts and tours throughout Europe and overseas. He is a member of several ensembles inclusing Perlonex, Activity Center, Polwechsel, Trio Sowari, Phosphor, The Sealed Knot and BBB. He also works with Keith Rowe, Sven-Åke Johansson, John Tilbury, Charlemagne Palestine and many others. At the same time, he is active in the area of sound installation.
Henrik Olsson is a Swedish guitarist and composer, based in Copenhagen. He exists on a continuum between free improvisation, noise and experimental music. He curiously explores and embraces the multifaceted nature of the electric guitar with meticulous attention to the instrument's tonal and textural nuances. Or as Glenn Astarita from All About Jazz writes: "Olsson is apt to terrorize his guitar on a nanosecond's notice". His distinctive playing can also be heard in groups such as Hand of Benediction, Olsson|Rubin, EHM, Ytterlandet, Jeppe Zeeberg & The Absolute Pinnacle of Human Achievement....
