During 25 years and still, the Hans Knudsen Jump band is one of the absolute hottest names on the Danish music scene, it is primarily due to the band's raw swinging playing style, a varied repertoire, a completely personal sound and an unusually close and humorous interaction with the audience.
The musical roots are firmly rooted in jazz and blues music from New Orleans and Kansas City, but own compositions are also played, and some material is taken from completely different genres of music (e.g. Elvis Presley and The Beatles). After a little "adjustment", these numbers are part of the repertoire quite naturally.
It is characteristic that the Jump band appears as a band, and not "just" as a quartet. The four musicians "fill up" an incredible amount of space on a stage, where together they create an intense and condensed sound - but also room for each other.

The Jump band was formed in 1993, when Hans Knudsen (piano & vocals) after 8 years of touring with the singer Lilian Boutté from New Orleans gathered the musicians who still make up the Jump band. It was agreed from the start that the music should be both swinging, challenging and have a strong personal "fingerprint". At the same time, it had to be outgoing and fun for both the audience and the band. The joy of playing should be the driving force - And it still is...
Hans Knudsen also received the award as "Blues Artist of the Year 2015"......
