Participants from Trombone Shorty Academy have traveled to Los Angeles, New York, Nashville, and Cuba, as well as sharing the Tipitina's stage with Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews every year at the foundation's fundraiser, Shorty Fest. Taught by members of the Soul Rebels, Rebirth Brass Band, and New Breed Brass Band, the Trombone Shorty Academy brings a fresh perspective to a musical tradition that dates back over 100 years. The future is confidently in the hands of these young performers, and you can experience their amazing music face to face in the streets of Copenhagen.
Legendary Danish pianist and singer Esben Just has been the ultimate ambassador of New Orleans culture in Denmark for several decades. Through solo projects, tours in Denmark with musicians from New Orleans, countless trips to New Orleans, and bands like the Esben Just trio and SP-JUST-FROST, he is a unique musical link between Denmark and New Orleans.
The parade starts at Rådhuspladsen and goes to Copenhagen's legendary blues bar, Mojo Blues, where there is an after-party.

The day after, Monday on July 7th, fans can experience the TSF Alumni Brass Band again in KBH. This time on the city's best and biggest outdoor stage during CPH Jazz Fest: Roots & Jazz at Den Røde Plads in Nørrebro. The day is dedicated to New Orleans music and in addition to the TSF Alumni Brass Band, you can also experience the Jon Cleary Trio and Esben Just

About the Gia Maione Prima Foundation:
In 2011, the Gia Maione Prima Foundation was established with the assistance of long-time friend and counsel, Anthony J. Sylvester of Sherman Atlas Sylvester & Stamelman LLP. Gia Maione Prima was a singer and the widow of Louis Prima, the famous jazz musician, singer, and composer from New Orleans. The GMPF makes donations to tax-exempt organizations supporting and encouraging an appreciation for American jazz, American popular music, and jazz performance as well as the fine arts.
About the Trombone Shorty Foundation:
Since its inception in 2012, the Trombone Shorty Foundation has mentored musically inclined New Orleans youth to develop professional skills through mentorship, scholarships, instruction, work-based learning, and real-world touring. Utilizing the Trombone Shorty Academy, Music Industry Apprenticeship Program, Fredman Music Business Institute, and the Shorty Foundation's Cultural Experiences program, the Foundation works to ensure its students will be leaders in the preservation and proliferation of New Orleans music and culture for generations to come.
