Since their debut album in 2018, the band has resonated with international blues audience, both for their releases and their concerts, which are often described as magical and spiritual. There impact on the blues scene has been solidified with three Danish Music Award in Blues, for Best Album of the Year in both 2018 and 2021, as well as the Blues Live Award in 2021. They also received a nomination for Album of the Year in 2022 at the DMA’s, for their live album, 'Live At The Station’.


Two elements separate Trainman Blues from other blues bands. Richard Farrell's songwriting exudes originality, in both the lyrical and melodic content, without renouncing the basic elements and emotions of blues. The songs are personal and the subjects range widely. The second element is the productions, Bluesnews editor Jakob Wandam described their debut album during his presentation of the Danish Music Awards for Blues in 2018, "It sounds like everything we know and love, while at the same time it sounds completely new". The approach in Trainman Blues is precisely to angle songs and productions so that they both hit even the biggest blues purists, but also those who are tired of hearing all the clichés over and over again.


How would blues artists like Robert Johnson and Big Bill Broonzy, and a soul singer like James Carr sound if you used the recording possibilities and technologies that today offers, without compromising on the foundations of blues and soul music? That's what Trainman Blues offers.
