Mono is a trio of three musicians, each of whom is a distinctive voice on the Copenhagen scene—pianist and five-time DMA winner Simon Toldam (Han Bennink Trio, Toldam Trio), bassist AC (Jakob Bro, Paul Motian, Sort Sol), and drummer Peter Bruun (Django Bates’ Belovèd Trio on ECM, All Too Human). Together, they explore the music of Thelonious Monk—the world’s most enigmatic songbook—with precisely the attentive, free, and humorous approach that Monk’s compositions call for. This afternoon, the trio will be joined by a very special guest: Berlin-based Tobias Delius, born in England and raised in Germany and Mexico, a key member of the legendary Amsterdam-based ICP Orchestra and recipient of the prestigious Boy Edgar Prize.
