The Brazilian trio Novo Cais has teamed up with singer Marcela Ferreira to pay tribute to one of the greatest female voices of Brazil: Maria Bethânia.

Novo Cais is a group that knows their roots and pays tribute to the musical frontrunners. They have previously held a special concert in honor of the legend Vinicius de Moraes and most recently they held a sold-out tribute concert to the great Caetano Veloso in Union during this year's Copenhagen Jazz Festival. Now they have turned their eyes on Veloso's sister Maria Bethânia, who for half a century has been the most important female voice on the progressive Brazilian music scene. She has released over 50 records, and since her debut in her teens she has worked with stars such as Tom Zé, Gal Costa, Gilberto Gil and of course her brother Caetano Veloso.
