Cubop
Groovy Latin Jazz with roots in Cuban salsa
Cubop is a 7-man orchestra who has developed his own style by uniting the salsa beater with
melodious jazz and funk themes.
In '94, three Danish musicians went to Cuba to experience the roots of the salsa and get the
rhythmic feeling completely under the skin. And they got it - including through instruction from
the musicians from the Buena Vista Social Club, which became a world famous and rolled salsa
wave across Europe and Denmark a few years later.
The trip to Cuba and the meeting with Cuban musicians became the starting point for the band

Over the years, the band has developed Cubop from being a Power Cuban dance band with
singers and choirs, to today mix salsa with jazz and funk in a purely instrumental band. A mix of
tight groovy bass and piano figures with the freedom of jazz's legendary improvisations, and still
with the salsa's dance performance.
Cubop plays music that appeals to both jazz lovers and people with salsa in the blood.
Fredrik Lundin and Al Agami perform as guest soloists with Cubop from spring 2017.
