A flute, harp and drums merge into a boiling mix of noise and jazz when French Nout comes by Stengade on February 25.
"True punks are rare, in jazz as elsewhere. With Nout, there’s no doubt – these girls are hard core to the death – as rappers used to say when they weren’t in the grocery business. But the music of Delphine, Rafaëlle and Blanche is not only impertinent, rebellious and even nasty, it’s also fun and intelligent. With its slight whiff of gunpowder, this fresh breeze is good for you." - LJ Nicolaou (TTTT TELERAMA)

The missing link between Nirvana and Sun Ra – the collaboration between Delphine Joussein, Rafaëlle Rinaudo and Blanche Lafuente aims to push their instruments beyond their own limits with the enthusiasm of a mad scientist in front of his test tubes. Nout:
The missing link between Nirvana and Sun Ra – the collaboration between Delphine Joussein, Rafaëlle Rinaudo and Blanche Lafuente aims to push their instruments beyond their own limits with the enthusiasm of a mad scientist in front of his test tubes. Flute, harp, drums: a rare combination that this trio turns completely on its head. Following John Zorn's experiments in the borderland between jazz and noise, Nout imagines their music as a scenario full of surprising twists: we think we are Ellen Ripley in Alien, but suddenly we find ourselves in Indiana Jones; we start with our eyes closed in the red cinema seat and end up standing and rocking in a mosh pit.
NOUT was selected for JAZZMIGRATION #7 in 2022.
NOUT was a finalist at the Jazz à la Défense Jazz Festival 2022, where Delphine Joussein won the award for best instrumentalist.
NOUT won the Zenith Award 2023–2024! European tour: The Jury commented:
"This trio shows a very high level of creativity and originality, with the unusual line-up of flute, electric harp and drums. They can be extremely vigorous and energetic, while still maintaining a complexity and richness in textures and details. While they are obviously having a good time on stage, they possess a wide range of dynamics, they can surprise you and keep you tied to your seat, or stand up dancing, until their performance is over. It is not by chance that despite them being rather young they already caught the interest of many promoters in France and beyond. We have no doubt that this Zenith Award will give them the opportunity to step up their career in Europe and be known to a wider community of professionals from the creative music sector. Huge congratulations to NOUT!"
"Nout is more than an experiment in making ugly noise with beautiful instruments. The dreamy 'Miskine' unfolds for five lovely minutes before being split by a snare crack and accelerating up the mountain into the thunder. Free of both distortion and percussion 'Slow' ripples like a sleepy, sun-dappled stream." - Jared Dix (The Quietus)
