Cell Sounds is Draminsky Højmark's new suite in three movements for live guitar and slow, pre-programmed piano mutations tuned to American composer Harry Partch's 18-tone scale.
While the piano layer of the suite contains fragments from Draminsky's earlier works, the newly composed guitar sounds and motifs are based on data related to his recent stem cell transplant.
In Cell Sounds, the two musical layers symbolise the dual DNA reality that he now embodies through his donor, while also representing the meeting between musical ideas from before and after his transplant.
