Rosàlia De Souza is one of today’s most exciting and engaging interpreters of samba, bossa nova and the Brazilian musical tradition. Her voice and stage presence capture the essence and sophistication of Rio de Janeiro, her birthplace, in the 1960s, while her individuality shines through with a modern sensibility and vibrant energy.
She has worked with some of the biggest names in Brazilian music, including Marcos Valle, Toco and Roberto Menescal, and has released 13 albums under her own name. Rosàlia performs around the world, and 55º refers to Copenhagen’s latitude, where this group originated.
There is arguably no more suitable trio in Denmark to collaborate with Rosàlia. Master drummer Jonas Johansen, who has been a leading figure on the Danish jazz scene for decades, is also an expert in Brazilian music.
Peter Rosendal combines folk, world music and jazz in a truly unique way and has both recorded and lived in Brazil for extended periods.
Graig Earle is renowned for his solid yet virtuosic and supportive bass playing, warm tone and outstanding rhythmic feel.
Rosàlia De Souza — vocals

This promises to be a concert experience that will bring Brazilian sunshine and warmth straight into the hearts of the audience.
The repertoire blends well-known and lesser-known compositions by Brazilian masters such as Antônio Carlos Jobim, Joyce Moreno and Chico Buarque with original compositions by the band members, inspired by Brazilian music.

“It is a fantastic combination.” The sunshine, tinged with the melancholy of Brazilian samba, choro and bossa nova, merges with the crystal-clear coolness of Nordic jazz in Rosàlia De Souza Quarteto 55º.
