Copenhagen's Jiyu is fearlessly pushing the boundaries across various genres, from broken beats, jazz-funk, and Afro-Cuban to bossa-vibes and experimental, ambient jazz.

On their new album “Totem of Quiet Mystic”, Jiyu presents a rich tapestry of phat analog synths, lush brass arrangements, psychedelic vibes, highlights of epic soloistic instrumental performances and a dense, organic jazz approach with drum grooves and percussion at its core.
The band's leader, guitarist, and producer, Emil Jonathan, collaborates with his long-time friend, Thomas Dietl, on drums, and their partnership combined with the consistent percussive rhythms from another long-time friend and musical soulmate, Karl Bille, adds an earthy, hand-played backbone, to the recordings and live concerts. Ken Linh Doky plays electric piano on 3 tracks, on the album, and is also part of the live line-up, along with Rasmus Kjærsgaard on saxophone and flute.
