Palestinian-Canadian composer-pianist John Kameel Farah creates a vivid sonic world where Baroque counterpoint meets Arabic modes, and Drum & Bass, IDM and Techno fuse with improvisation and electronic soundscapes. 
Farah draws on themes of resistance, liberation and Near-Eastern history, surrounding the piano with synthesizers and electronics to create unfolding tapestries in which looping drones morph into Baroque-style fugues and driving Arabic percussion.
He studied at the University of Toronto, where he received the Glenn Gould Composition Award twice. He later worked privately with Terry Riley in California and continued studies at the Arabic Music Retreat in Hartford. Since 2010 he has been a member of the Canadian Electronic Ensemble, and in 2023 he performed as a guest with Tangerine Dream in Toronto.
