Rånes/Builder brings together two custom-built instruments made in full or in part by the legendary Jens Erik Larsen. Rånes with his Gitar Ordinarium: a sustain-heavy creation with an extended range and built-in faders and Builder with his (Re)constructed Pipe Organ, consisting of salvaged pipes from demolished churches across Northern Jylland.

John Arne Rånes is a guitarist/composer based in Copenhagen. With his band Statoil, he’s toured across Europe under the SHAPE+ platform, pushing the limits of distortion, repetition, and political critique. Statoil call their music 'static-oil-core' - a heavy, instrumental blend of grinding riffs and shrieking noise that channels the sound of black-gold extraction into a middle finger to hyper-capitalism and resource exploitation.
