THE B.I.A.S. (The Bass Is A Spaceship) is a shapeshifting ensemble led by bassist and producer Luca Curcio (La BOMBA). Built around real-time composition, sampling, and groove-forward improvisation, the music takes shape loop by loop—layered, disrupted, rewired.
At its core is a working method: improvise, sample, rewire, repeat, a live beat-making approach guided more by instinct than design. The result is something between band and beat tape: evolving, open-form, and rhythmically charged.
There are echoes of Makaya McCraven’s rhythmic architecture, Petter Eldh’s chopped-up urgency, and Madlib’s collage mindset, but THE B.I.A.S. follows its own path, driven by bass, openness, and rhythmic curiosity. The music unfolds in real time: raw, rhythmic, and open to surprise.
